GRAND LAKE WILD VAUTOUR CAPTURES LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!!
FINALLY!!! As the season headed towards the end, the Grand Lake Wild Vautour
ended the season in first place after round robin play in the play-offs. The
boys were to play a best of three series against the Doaktown Hitmen. The
series started on Thursday night in Minto where to boys played to a 3-0 win!
Great job Jamieson as you racked up another shut-out!!!! Goals were scored by
Wade Hetherington, Alex Colwell and Haidin Perry. Assists for the night were by
Haidin Perry, Adam Belliveau and Stormie Beers. One more to go . . . .
It was off the Doaktown on Friday night for a late start against the Hitmen.
The game preceeding ours was a game seven for the Hitmen Midget team and
Doaktown was succesful. The arena was packed and many stayed on to cheer on
their home team, hoping for a second victory . . .
Both teams came out fired up, Doaktown clinging for "life" and the Wild wanting
to finish the series and season. It was the Hitmen who put up the first goal
during the second period and ten minutes later Alex Colwell answered with a goal
assisted by Adam Belliveau and Julien Sinnett. The game stayed tied for most of
the third period and the players, coaches and fans thought that overtime was
evident. Then with one minute and six seconds left, Haidin Perry fired a shot
assisted by Jarret Blyth and Alex Colvell, that went past Arbeau and the Wild
players and fans went "wild". Now to hold on for one more minute. The boys
played defensively and held down their opponents to the buzzer. League
champions in two straight!!!!! Mark Bordage from HNB participated in the gold
medal ceremony and our boys signed the banner they worked so hard to win! Way
to go guys!!!!!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for such a wonderful
season. From the parents and players a special thank you goes out to the
coaches who dedicate their time and talent to the boys. A special thank you to
Ronnie who works very hard at preparing practices and who motivates and finds
that special talent in each individual player and gets them to use it as a
team! Thank you to the parents for a great season, we had a super year with no
incidents and a lot of fun. This is special as you can appreciate. And last
but not least, thank you to our boys who are such a great groups of young men.
You played amazing, but most of all, you represented yourselves and Grand Lake
Minor Hockey, with the utmost of respect. You are truly great young men and it
has been a pleasure being your manager! Have a great off season and see you at
the banquet and year-end party!
